& there goes the blogging cherry.

So yes this is my first blog, in case the title didn't give that away.

This blog is to talk, beg pardon, write about the new communication technology lecture & tutorials.

Since the tutorial is actually doing this blog, writing about writing it would be a head spin.
So that leaves the lecture,
It was... good.
We basically read the course outline & compared old & new communication.
For those who missed it...

Land line telephones, letters, radio and television are old.
Mobile phones, computers, and by association the internet, emails, social networking, instant messaging, blogs and message boards are new.

Oral communication, talking, get your mind out of the gutter, was also put down as old, and honestly i can agree.
People spend hours and hours in front of there shiny computer screens talking to their "friends" on facebook and msn. People don't call, they text, or im or leave status updates demanding their friends reply to their two line comments.
Who needs to talk when you can type everything?
& with the helpful emoticons, misinterpreted messages are a thing of the past.
adding :) or LOL to anything puts it in good humour, ! :D show excitement & :s ? confusion.
No emoticons, oh boy are you in trouble.

The lecturer, Josh, pointed out how social networking sites are causing people to become less social, ironic.
Its not hard to see where he is coming from, with everything so expensive and everyone being so busy now days its 100% easier to stay home and chat online then go talk face to face.

It begs the question, are we getting lazy or are we stepping into the future, one stauts update at a time?
